A Message of Love to You
Do not measure yourself against the illusions of love propagated by consumerism and marketing campaigns. Most of all, do not view yourself as “less than” those who receive grand gestures and proclamations of special love on this day that marketers use as yet another opportunity to make money in the guise of celebrating love. Rather, see what is truth beyond the glittery trappings and guilt-inducing advertisements of what has become a commercial holiday. You are Love. Period. You are God’s Child, created in Love and as Love. Your worth is not measured in the professions of love by another. Your worth is measured in the truth of your creation and being.
The Lenses We Choose Create Our Experience
Do you realize the power you have to create your experiences? It all comes down to the lenses that you choose to wear, and the lenses that you choose reflect what you believe. But wait? Doesn’t life happen to us? Don’t we just do our best to adapt to what transpires in our lives? This common belief assumes that we are victims of our circumstances. Rather, we are powerful creators, and we experience exactly what we expect to experience in any given situation.
Maintaining the Energy of Love
How do you maintain the positive energy that feels so effortless when you are centred within the love that you are? How do you keep your heartfelt intention to live your life from an inner space of love and peace? Do you find yourself feeling drained and deflated after being out in the world or in the company of certain people?
Fear Only Has the Power That We Give It
It seems that I have allowed fear and all of its manifestations — self-doubt, insecurity, self-blame, guilt, self-criticism and judgment — to have far too much power in my life. You see, I believed that fear was something beyond my control; that I was at the mercy of frightening events that could happen to me. I didn’t realize that I was the only one giving fear its power over me. In fact, fear has no power over us, unless we give it.
New Year’s Resolutions with a Twist
I would like to propose a new kind of resolution as we begin the new year — resolutions that have none of the guilt that most of our pledges arise from after the weeks of excess during the holiday season. We feel guilty about all the rich food that we have eaten, our lack of exercise and physical activity, all the liquid Christmas cheer that we have imbibed, and all the money that we have spent. Our guilt inspires impassioned vows to exercise regularly, to eat a healthy diet, to detox our bodies, to live within a budget, to pay off our credit cards… to make any number of surface changes that we hope will make us feel better about ourselves.
My Christmas Prayer for You
May we open into the truth of who we are at the soul level. May we embrace our true identities as spiritual sisters and brothers, as radiant expressions of Divine Love, one with the universal consciousness of God. May we open into the call of our souls to explore what that truth means in our lives. In each moment, may we choose to look through the lenses of love so that we may recognize Christ within one another — our Oneness — beneath the illusions of separateness with which the ego would beguile and deceive us. May we embrace one another with unconditional love that sees beyond the clouded and fearful images that our egos would have us perceive. In spite of what may have happened in our lives and the various ways by which we may feel hurt and betrayed, may we choose to see the truth of our brothers and sisters beneath the veil of sin that our egos would have them wear. May we […]
The Gift within the Experience of Emotional Pain During the Holidays
How many of us experience the pain of loss, loneliness, and sadness as the festive season builds all around us? We are flooded with pictures that portray the excitement and anticipation of the perfect Christmas, the perfect family get-togethers, and the perfect holiday season. Each picture projects images of loving families, perfect gifts, and an abundance of happiness and togetherness. And each picture feels like one more stab in the heart of people who are grieving, recovering from traumas that kicked their feet out from under them, or experiencing a seemingly less-than-picture-perfect physical reality.
What You Seek Is Reflected Back to You
It is easy to think of this as a fearful world. All we have to do is watch the news at any hour on any day to see one crime, wrongdoing, or violent act after another. It is easy to fall prey to the seductive beckoning and propagation of fear. It is easy to fall into the belief that we need to protect ourselves and all that is ours against inevitable attack. It is what we are fed, hour after hour, day after day — a steady diet of fear, attack, and retribution.
Always Choose Love
In the face of hatred and violence, our egos scream for retribution. Our egos would have us believe that we are all separate individuals and that we have to protect what is ours, whether that be our loved ones, our property, or our safety. When we listen to our egos, we lash out at others because we are afraid. All acts of revenge begin as fear.
Do I Choose Engagement or Observation?
I always thought that I wanted to engage fully in life and to experience each moment to the fullest. I always believed that it was better to be fully engaged in every experience that life brought me than to be an observer of life. I thought engagement equaled active living and observation equaled passive living, and in my mind, active living was the only choice. I find myself questioning what I always thought and believed.
