Whose Champion Are You?
When you think of being a champion, what comes to mind? Do you think of winning a competition or earning a title? Do you imagine being awarded a trophy or title and receiving the accolades of an adoring crowd? Let’s add two more words and see how the image of champion changes. When you think of being a champion for someone, what comes to mind? Where does the focus go? Who notices? What is the “win”?
How Does True Forgiveness Feel?
Those of you who have followed my blog for a while know that I have struggled to practise forgiveness in my life. At first, it was a way for me to release emotional baggage that was weighing me down and keeping me stuck in negativity and blame. Then, as I opened into awareness of my spiritual identity, it became vitally important to me to truly forgive those whom I believed had hurt me and to be able to love them unconditionally. I wanted to be able to think of them and feel only love – no blame, no judgment, no hurt – only love. Each time, I thought that I had forgiven, events occurred to show me that even though my intent was to forgive, I hadn’t reached a state of true forgiveness.
Do We Create Our Own Emotional Pain?
Have you believed that you experienced hurt because of the actions and words of another? Have you experienced fear that you will be hurt again? Have you erected inner walls to protect yourself from further betrayal and emotional pain? If you are like me, you can answer a resounding yes to each of these questions. I am beginning to realize that because I believed that others had the power to hurt me, I created circumstances in which I experienced recurring emotional pain.
Unconditional Love and Forgiveness
I often use stream-of-consciousness writing to find illumination when I am experiencing internal struggle. I want to share the wisdom that came through in my writing today.
Dear Beloved, talk to me about unconditional love and forgiveness.
Maintaining the Energy of Love
How do you maintain the positive energy that feels so effortless when you are centred within the love that you are? How do you keep your heartfelt intention to live your life from an inner space of love and peace? Do you find yourself feeling drained and deflated after being out in the world or in the company of certain people?
Releasing Self-Created Stories
It seems that this holiday season is ripe with realizations for me, and it is my prayer that in sharing what I am learning that you will find some clarity and healing too. As the time approaches for celebrating Christmas with family and loved ones, instead of brimming over with anticipation, different emotions seem to be rising within me. Tears flowed again and again as I decorated the tree and as I prepared homemade favourites for my children. Feelings of loneliness and isolation rose within me as I began my two-week break from teaching. Dread and resistance rise within me as I think of time with my parents and siblings. What is there for me to realize and learn from these emotions?
My Belief That I Am Special
As I have studied A Course in Miracles, I have questioned why I would want to separate from God in the first place. Why would I want to go my own way when my journey has become one of returning home to God?
Creating Spiritual Family With You
It has been my hope and prayer since I began this blog that, together, we can create a community in which we all feel recognized, supported, and loved unconditionally, and in which we can open ourselves up to share our light, our healing, and our spiritual openings. My dream is to create a very real experience of the spiritual family of which we are all a part, whether we recognize it or not. I would like to share a message I received from my dear spiritual Brother, Hart, and which he has given me permission to share with you. I have read your last few posts with alacrity and have felt most moved and inspired. As you express your ideas, you see, you are giving me voice and opening that space inside me that is in silence, yet responds so deeply to the ideas and metaphors and descriptions you provide me ( and […]
Forgiveness Is More Than a One-Shot Deal
How many times do we need to forgive before there are no more layers of hurt and betrayal to peel back? I can’t give you a definitive answer. It seems trite to say as many times as you need to forgive, but it is true. I have been working on forgiving those with whom I have experienced the greatest hurts for years now, and I’m still not there. I still haven’t reached a place where there is nothing left to forgive… where I can say with complete truth that I hold nothing but love in my heart for them. If I told you that all I ever feel is love when I think of these people, I would be lying to you and to myself. I can tell you that there are times when I genuinely feel compassion, understanding, and love for them, but then when I least expect it… more […]
Giving Ourselves Away for Love
How many of us have given ourselves away hoping to find love? We give our true selves away in different ways. Sometimes we pretend to be interested in what we believe is important to another person to try to initiate an interaction that will lead to connection and, hopefully, love. Many times, we pretend to be someone we’re not to attract the attention and heart of another. We sublimate our authentic selves believing that an artificial version will be more attractive. We even give our bodies to another, hoping that love will be returned to us. I look back on the ways in which I gave myself away for love, not with judgment, but with compassion for that lost, insecure person. What I did was fueled by a deep desire to be loved. I believed that if someone loved me, I would be someone. I would be worthy. I believed that the experience I […]
